The Orlando Cat Cafe, which is located several miles west of Disney’s Animal Kingdom, is pawsitively entertaining. The first of its kind in Central Florida, this cafe is the perfect place for cat and coffee lovers alike.
While you’re getting your caffeine kick, you will have an opportunity to get to know each cat’s personality and enjoy its quirky antics. But that’s not even the best part. All of the cats and kittens at Orlando Cat Cafe are available for adoption through a partnership with The Animal League. In fact, the cafe was successful with 121 adoptions in one year.
The facility is separated into two areas – the cafe and the cat play area – to comply with health and food safety compliance guidelines. In the cafe, choose from 10 varieties of coffee as well as sandwiches, pastries, quiche, paninis, scones and a selection of desserts. Tasty treats are offered for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
For a small entry fee, you can bring your food and beverage into the cat play area and play with these feline friends. Around 12 to 15 cats and kittens roam around the 1,000-square-foot cat play area, which offers comfort for both guests and the cats. Stairs on the walls, as well as couches and boxes, provide a place for the animals to have fun and lounge around. When you’re there, you can make use of the variety of toys to play with the cats and form new bonds.
If you don’t want to get too close to the action, you can also choose to enjoy your food and beverage in the coffee shop and watch the playful antics of the kitties through a viewing window into the cat play area at this meownificant Central Florida location. Don’t like coffee? No worries, loose leaf tea is on the menu, too.
Not just a place to stop in, Orlando Cat Cafe is a place for the community to come together and help people in need. The owners also partnered with Axum Coffee, an Orlando-based coffee shop that donates a portion of proceeds to a community in need in Ethiopia. This community is home to 45,000 people. There is no fresh water, inadequate medical care and thousands of orphans and beggars on the street. Orlando Cat Cafe is currently working in Axum with the goal of changing lives one city at a time.
There are only a certain amount of people who are allowed in the play area at one time, so it is recommended that you make a reservation at least 24 hours in advance to ensure a cuddle spot and avoid waiting. Saturdays and Sundays are the facility’s busiest days.
If you’re looking to help out, you can also volunteer at the Orlando Cat Cafe. Just fill out an application and go through a little training.
